Experience the authentic spirit of skiing and riding at Cuchara Mountain Park (CMP)

If you're searching for affordable skiing/snowboarding in Colorado or a truly community-focused ski area, Cuchara is your adventure destination. We offer a refreshing alternative to high-cost resorts—you won't find us chasing massive vertical drops or expensive dining. Instead, you'll discover a place where the focus is on family skiing, beginner lessons, snow sports participation, and building a vibrant outdoor community.

In its prime, skiing on Baker Mountain boasted 230 skiable acres served by four chairlifts. Today, Cuchara Mountain Park provides a dual-access mountain experience, blending the promise of lift-served downhill skiing with essential backcountry access to the stunning San Isabel National Forest.

Two Ways to Ski Cuchara Mountain Park:

  1. Affordable Lift-Served Skiing (THE COMEBACK IS REAL!): Our historic Chair 4 is currently running and fully certified, paving the way for truly affordable lift tickets. This dedicated area will be perfect for beginner skiers, family ski trips, and kids learning to ski. Chair 4 services approximately 47 skiable acres within CMP boundaries, focusing on providing an epically maintained, safe, and fun environment for mastering your skills.

  2. Backcountry Skiing & Alpine Touring Access: CMP is the essential hub for backcountry skiing. It provides premier access to the historic runs above the park and deep into the San Isabel National Forest backcountry. Skiers can enjoy over 1,500 vertical feet of ascent and access to all the historic runs. Cross-country enthusiasts can utilize the groomed Lower Baker Creek Trail.  Please note: All uphill users must adhere to CMP's UPHILL POLICY and enter USFS land 100% at their own risk. Be prepared!

Cuchara Mountain Park’s mission is to expand outdoor recreation and snow sports participation for people of all backgrounds. Our accessible terrain gives novices a place to learn affordably. Simultaneously, the backcountry access allows experienced users to get fresh tracks or curious intermediate skiers to build backcountry skills and confidence.

At the summit of the uphill route, take a moment to enjoy the unparalleled views of West Spanish Peak and the dramatic dikes cutting through the valley. Even with the realization of Chair 4 returning, the majority of the mountain (USFS land) remains accessible via Cuchara Mountain Park for alpine touring and backcountry exploring!
